Kasper is a ten year old boy who lives in the middle of the Nothing. The Nothing is a stretch of land with just dirt and rubble because years ago people wanted to knock down old houses and build new ones but never did. One day, Kasper comes outside and finds his roses broken and petals on the ground. He immediately thinks that tonight he will hide and find out what happened ........ and that's where the story begins. Pumpkin is his mother - she never does housework but one day that all changes too when King Streetwise's reign falls! I enjoyed the story because I like the characters and the illustrations. If you like a dramatic, exciting story Philip Ridley is your author! I give this book 10 out of 10.
