My favourite character was Gollum as he was very funny - but there were also other characters like Legolas the elf bowman, Gandalf the wizard, Frodo the hobbit and various other surprises. The structure is quite clever. You even meet the famous Bilbo Baggins (see the Hobbit, another brilliant book by Tolkien).
It is a really enjoyable book for advanced readers (12+). If you have seen the film you will find the book is just as exciting. The characters are amazing. There are men, wizards, dwarves, elves and other THINGS... the adventure and plot of the book are outstanding ... it is a mixture of myth, legend and other things too horrible to mention ..... THE DARK LORD ..... ENJOY!!
