Read Vicky Angel!!! Read Vicky Angel!!! Read Vicky Angel!!! Sorry I went a bit overboard there (and I'm not even Jacqueline Wilson, so I won't be getting any money for saying this!) So, let me cool down for a bit ............Ok! I'm ready now. So.......

Vicky Angel is a book that haunts you just as Vicky in the story haunts Jade. It's extremely sad because Vicky is killed in a car accident in the first chapter. However, Jacqueline Wilson writes in a very humorous way so there is plenty to laugh about in the book too. Strangely enough though, when ever I read Vicky Angel I feel lonely and left out. I don't know why. It's a magic book, honestly, but painful to read too. Really, one of the top ten children's books of recent years!!

The book talks about emotions a lot. For example, Jade feels very guilty for most of the story because she thinks she should have saved, Vicky's life. Two things make her feel worse. Firstly, they were quarreling when Vicky died. Also Vicky's parents don't come and say it, but they think Vicky's death was Jade's fault too. Probably Jade's own parents think so aswell. The relationship between Jade and her mum and dad becomes very difficult. Even Vicky says, "Guilty, guilty, guilty." to her. Vicky often teases and torments Jade too, for example when she pretends she's trying to get Jade to kill herself. Jade says Vicky's death was an accident, and Vicky says, "Was it?." narrowing her eyes. No wonder Jade feels bad!

Another emotion the book looks at is jealousy. Poor Vicky. She is not really in this world and not in the next, and she sees Jade beginning to make new friendships. This painful to her just like it is to real people. So she criticizes Sam, and says it just gets to her when Jade is chatting to people and she's stuck with no-one to talk to.

One part that really made my bottom lip tremble a bit was when Jade had to read Vicky's essay, 'Reasons to be Cheerful' at her funeral. It was the last part, when Vicky wrote: 'Life is short, you don't know how long you've got. Don't waste time moaning. Enjoy yourself.' Vicky is right, and if we only remember this from the book, then reading it was worth it.
